Let's go outside! Introducing #ThePicnicSociety

Let's go outside! Introducing #ThePicnicSociety

Spring is here! It looks like our friends on the east coast are finally going to get a reprieve from the cold weather and snowstorms. To celebrate one of our four favorite seasons, we’re launching The Picnic Society, a community of people who share a love of outdoor dining.

At the heart of the Everybody’s Invited philosophy is a strong belief in the value of bringing people together to break bread, to laugh, and to temporarily escape the sometimes harsh realities of daily life. And nothing brings people together like a picnic. All you need is an old blanket, a cool spot in the shade, some tasty nibbles that travel well, and of course, some good friends.

The Picnic Society is simple. To join, just read the Al Fresco Manifesto and pledge to organize at least one picnic this year. That’s it! We’ll email you with a new picnic concept every month from April through August, and, best of all, if you sign up during the month of April, you’ll be automatically entered to win a picnic basket loaded with goodies.

How do you like the new look?

How do you like the new look?

Just like a good haircut, we think the new Everybody's Invited website shows off who we really are on the inside. It's colorful, fun, and full of good ideas.

Where'd everything go?

We're putting our unique products and services front and center, but you can still find the inspiring theme party, scavenger hunt, and wedding ideas, along with interviews with professional Merrymakers, right here on the blog.

We haven't lost our DIY ethic, and we want to help YOU create the most memorable experiences possible. In fact, we're now offering Custom DIY Kits for creating your own theme parties, scavenger hunts, unusual weddings, and magical Moments. Like everything we do at Everybody's Invited, no two DIY Kits are the same. They are tailor made just for you. This is hand-crafted, artisanal event design!

Break out your lab coats and graphing calculators!

We're excited to debut the Good Life Lab, a section dedicated exclusively to studying the science of play, surprise, and adventure. Right now you can find all of Hannah's blog posts on those topics, and soon you'll be able to participate in some life-enhancing science experiments in the Lab. Bunsen burners are optional.

But wait...there's more!

The new look is just the tip of the iceberg—we've got a lot more new goodies coming soon. If you'd like to be among the first to know when we launch new projects, please sign up for our newsletter (you'll hear from us about once per month). Here, we'll make it easy for you:

Congratulations, Hannah & Chris!

It takes two to tango! Chris and Hannah performed a choreographed tango for the couple’s first dance.

It takes two to tango! Chris and Hannah performed a choreographed tango for the couple’s first dance.

This past weekend, our very own Hannah got married to her perfect partner, Chris! In addition to being a truly epic, detailed, and perfectly-planned event, it was the most heartfelt, sincere, and personalized wedding I’ve ever had the pleasure of attending. It was so very them.

Here are just a few of the awesome details:

- A quirky and cool venue that included a tiki bar, giant taxidermy lion, and a game room featuring the couple’s own game collection.

- An incredibly sweet ceremony officiated by one of their best friends and MC-ed by Chris of Everybody’s Invited! There was also a ceremonial science-y “joining of the chemicals,” which resulted in one glowing red beaker.

- Beautiful, DIY details, like marquee signs (which I thought they bought, but it turns out Hannah made them!) and personalized tangram wedding favors.

- Gorgeous centerpieces with beautiful flowers in eclectic vases, tall gold candlesticks, and little details like origami and assorted Rubik’s Cubes.

- A photobooth with lightsabers!

- A delicious Mexican food dinner, equally amazing desserts, and a tasty signature cocktail.

- A sultry, choreographed tango for the couple’s first dance (photo above). Followed by a dance floor packed with family and friends busting a move to a mix of new and old-school hits.

And so much more! Hannah, I hope you share photos and details of the wedding on this blog because everything was SO GOOD and so inspiring.

We are so incredibly happy for you, Hannah and Chris! Your love is so beautiful. Here’s to many years and many adventures together!

P.S. My phone was messed up, so the only photo I managed to snap was the above one of the gorgeous bride getting ready to tango! Please pretend it’s not fuzzy.

Introducing Everybody’s Invited’s Newest Merrymakers

Big news!

For the past six months, I’ve been working to transition Everybody’s Invited! from a simple blog to a full-fledged event design and production company. My dream has always been to spread the gospel of play, surprise, and adventure far and wide, and an events company will be the real life manifestation of that dream.

Though I’ve had a lot of personal energy around this idea, I’ve often felt that I needed a partner in this endeavor in order to make it a reality. (Ever since I joined the 7th grade Math Olympiad squad, I’ve loved working on a team!) After months of quietly sulking while working alone, fate has finally intervened in the form of two awesome colleagues.

Today I am more than thrilled to introduce my new partners-in-fun, Chris Machuca and Tara Dawkins. Chris and Tara bring bucketloads of event planning experience, creativity and kindness to the mix, and I’m overjoyed to be working with them as we expand the offerings of Everybody’s Invited!

Chris is a professional event planner whose expertise ranges from large-scale nonprofit events to memorable small-scale “moments.” Oh, and he kills it at karaoke night. Tara is a communications professional, new mom, and probably the best-dressed person I know. She and her husband’s first wedding dance was to “Earth Angel,” in honor of the Enchantment Under the Sea dance from Back to the Future. Respect.

In the coming weeks and months, we’ll share more about our expanded offerings, and in the meantime, you may see Chris and Tara’s names pop up in the bylines of this here blog.  It’s so fun to be three!

Welcome, Chris and Tara. You guys are my density!
