Theme Party Inspiration: Near and Deer – Thanksgiving 2013

Last Thanksgiving, we got all foxy on you. This Thanksgiving, we’re inspired by another woodland creature: the adorable, doe-eyed deer. Tell those who are near and deer to your heart how much you appreciate them by inviting them over for a delicious, deer-themed Thanksgiving dinner!

Describe the Vibe:

Rustic, vintage cabin, with autumnal plaid, logs, moss, and cute little deer figurines everywhere.

Decor & Table Setting:

Deer plates on plaid – yes! Black and white decor is a current trend, but we also like fall-colored plaids (like brown, forest green, and deep orange).

Kids’ Table:

This idea is all over Pinterest, and we love it! Cover the kids’ table with craft paper and set out some crayons. Encourage kids to draw or write down expressions of gratitude. This is also something you could do at the big kids’ (adult!) table.

Menu:

Most people probably already have their traditional menus in place. What’s on yours? I (Tara) always make a vegetarian feast with my family, which includes: stuffed acorn squash, corn chowder, millet corn bread, sweet potato pudding, and apple crumble (amongst other things!).

Drinks:

Oh deer! How could we pass up this theme-appropriate wine?

Dessert:

Don’t be caught like a deer in headlights without several divine dessert options!

Theme Party Inspiration: A Foxy Thanksgiving

Fox print by Iota Illustration.

It looks like the fox has ousted the owl from his position as the au courant creature of the design world. We keep seeing this sly guy everywhere! Clever, crafty, and cute as a button, we just couldn’t resist creating a fox-inspired Thanksgiving theme party dinner.

We’re imagining a glittery, metallic woodland creature vibe with feathers, moss, succulents, yellow roses, and tree branches. The party palette would be burnt orange, forest green, mustard yellow, glistening gold, and brown. You can see the inspiration for our Fox-Themed Thanksgiving on our Thanksgibblin’ Pinterest board.
